What do you do in your daily life to enhance gender equality? "I'm not really the protest type, i don't like big crowds so i'd rather go online and sign a petition. I think what is important is to send a message to governments. Besides, i enjoy talking to friends about equality and discussing about gender gap if they are not aware of it." #shespoke #internationalwomensday
“Books play a great role in the education of boys and girls. Both can read about not traditional roles but what they can do or achieve. This is one of my favourites, “De Evolutie Van Calpurnia Tate” by Jaqueline Kelly. It's a novel about a girl in 1899 in Texas who wants to be something different than a model, housewife, or teacher. Her grandfather involves her in investigation of nature. It's a great book. It could be an eye-open for a girl. Of course there are books about cars, but they just target children who like cars. Boys usually prefer them and there's nothing wrong about that! Books and toys give children possibilities to explore what they like and we don't have to tie them down to one direction or the other.” Ingeborg van den Bovenkamp, De Groningse Kinderboekhandel #SheSpoke #internationalwomensday.
