Once upon a time there was a Brazilian guy in Helsinki. He didn’t know that back then, but he was about to make a decision that would have changed the course of his 30s.
“I wanted to move away from São Paulo, no matter what. I wanted to study in Finland because it was the farthest I could get from my own country’s culture.” But as someone once said, “life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans”. In the deepest North, he met a teacher from The University of Groningen. “I was not aware of the existence of this city, that was one of the reasons why I decided to study there. It was weird enough to me.”
He packed his things, put his music and movie magazines in his rucksack and left behind his party animal attitude. He’s now on a new, different adventure that will hopefully take him to work for one of his favourite publications: The Awl.
